About A Grand Project The project seeks to restore a dilapidated Morris Minor van into a roadworthy vehicle in just six months, for less than £1000. Following completion of the restoration, we’ll take it on a 2000-mile sponsored tour of the UK in just four days, to raise money for The Railway Children, a charity that helps street children in the UK and worldwide. About the vehicle The project van is a 1969 Morris Minor Light Commercial Vehicle. It was bought unseen by the Project manager a little over twelve months ago in a somewhat rash eBay deal, and sadly turned out to be in rather poorer condition than the description implied! It was last on the road way back in 1974, when, just five years old, it was laid up with a cracked chassis. Since that time, it has been stored outside and rust has eaten away at it considerably – the chassis requires replacement, the cab floor has rotted completely away along the outer edges and most of the mechanical components have seized. |
