Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway

2009 Timetable details available shortly

The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway operates regular steam trains through the pleasant Lake District countryside, along the banks of the River Leven, between its terminus station at Haverthwaite on the A590 Trunk Road (25 minutes from the M6 at J36) and connects with the steamers and motor boats on Windermere at Lakeside. Trains operating on the 3½ mile line are usually hauled by one of the railway's fleet of former industrial tank engines. The line is also home to the oldest working standard gauge steam locomotive in Great Britain, former Furness Railway No. 20. Be sure to make this unique experience part of your visit to England's Lake District!
