Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway

Santa Specials commence Saturday 29th November - Book now! Telephone 01229 717171

The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is Lakeland's oldest line, dating from 1875. It operates regular steam trains along the 7-mile, 15-inch gauge miniature railway, through the pleasant Lake District countryside, with outstanding views that cannot be seen by road. The line runs between Ravenglass, on the Cumbrian Coast, to Dalegarth in the Esk valley, close to the foot of Hardknott Pass. Among the amazing fleet of locomotives is 'River Irt', the oldest working 15" gauge steam engine in the world. With the railway's large fleet of open, covered or enclosed carriages, whatever the weather, your visit to the line (affectionately known to the locals as 'La'al Ratty') will be an enjoyable one! Be sure to make this unique experience part of your visit to England's Lake District!
